I remember buying the Orange Box to play Half Life 2 through specifically. I played it before on other peoples machines but now I could play it. It was where I installed Steam for the first time, that is like 1 or two years before we made contact, maybe more. I still think it is a great game but the fact we will probably never have closure on the ending is a real downer. Its cool that the C&C games got Workshop support. As a kid I enjoyed making maps and making custom units using INI files, did you know there C&C there are secret dinosaur levels and Red Alert has secret giant ant levels (like from the movie "Them" from 1954)? You can unlock the sprites via the INI files. I remember making a superfast Einstein unit that could shoot Tesla beams that had a nuclear explosion, but eventually could not move and became like a Tesla tower, stupid shit like that, lol. The last Civ I played was 4, it was okay the combat is a bit better then Civ 3. I own 5 and Im curious about what its like. Yeah mainline Civilization is stuck in a rut, similar games like Call to power 2 can go to the far future and other 4X titles can also change settings and gameplay but Civ is mostly gotta stay Civ. I hear Civ 7 is bad because it became Woke like everything on the planet lol. I hear PC Emu is good (https://pcem-emulator.co.uk/screenshots.html) for that but yeah XP used to be King so maybe Ill try that. Krimsky the guy that made that SC2000 map renderer also made patches for Sims Copter and Streets of Sim City to work on modern machines, check it out and tell me if it works (https://krimsky.net/patchers.html). Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is regarded by most as the worst game, but it was my first FF game and the first true RPG I beat (It also was the first FF game released in Europe). Yes it was made for kids and is very basic and not very pretty, but it was great for atleast one kid (It also has some great music). Its a great introduction for FF and JRPG`s back then. Batman on the NES is cool but I suck at it. I didnt have it as a kid but probably would have enjoyed it. This podcast is pretty cool even without the brave new world expansion pack :D.

ReplyDelete3:12 I spent about 3 minutes thinking about it, no cheating, I am going to say "Castlevania: The Adventure" for the Game Boy. I played through the Castlevania Collection on XBOX a few years back, and I'm like 90% sure it's that the one. I remember one track that went really hard, harder than it had any right to. Watch me be wrong, and it's the chip tune for Sabrina The Teenage Witch on the GBA.
Did Iced Tea really bring up Kotaku or was that AI?
I have never played any Civilization games, I apologize for my lack of banter on that topic.
39:50 wow, I was dead wrong, I was willing to bet the farm on that one too.
Man, you're almost at Episode 500, that's more episodes than The Super Show, The Mondo Cool Cast, The Beast Cast, and Vintage Video Game Geek's 2 podcasts combined, and a bag of chips. You'll have to get Metal Jesus Rocks or Markiplier on for Episode 500.
