The on-again, off again-on again movie Coyote vs Acme could finally see the light of day, as Warner Bros have reportedly changed course and allowed it to be sold off once more. This could be due to the overwhelmingly positive reception for the new Looney Tunes movie, The Day The Earth Blew Up - which was released in the US back in March 14 2025, and plans to be released in Australia on the 27th of March 2025, the film has been a modest success at the box office in it's first week, gaining already $6 million out of its $15 million budget, and has many positive reviews.
Maybe because of this, and rumors from Looney Tunes voice actor Eric Bauza, that if The Day The Earth Blew Up does well, we may be finally able to see the highly anticipated and currently shelved Coyote VS Acme.
We here at Emerald Rangers have been following the events of this film since the first initial shelving back in November 2023, and had been supportive of the film getting a release.
According to a new Deadline article published on March the 19th, it looks like Warner Bros. are open to selling Coyote VS Acme to Ketchup Entertainment (the same studio who saved & released The Day The Earth Blew Up) for a modest sum of $50million. Though this deal is not yet finalized, it's said it's currently well in development, so I am hopeful for a positive outcome. If Ketchup Entertainment manages to buy the film, it's said it would be released theatrically as early as 2026.
The movie has been sitting on the Warner Bros Archives shelf for over a year, it would be really nice for somebody like Ketchup Entertainment to purchase the film and release it. I would love to see it get a world wide release as well.
The comedy law film stars John Cena, Will Forte, and Lana Condor along with the voice actor Eric Bauza as some Looney Tunes characters (but not Wile E. Coyote, who remains silent throughout the film). The story is based on the classic Ian Fraizer 1990 publication from The New Yorker and features classic traditional animation similar to Who Framed Roger Rabbit..
Previously, film company Cineverse showed public interest in the film but didn't bring any serious offers to the table.
This news also comes a week after some legendary Looney Tunes fan dressed up as Wile E. Coyote and protested outside Warner Bros Studios for them to release "his movie".
As of April 2024, a Warner Bros spokesperson had indeed indicated that the movie was still available for acquisition and certainly not deleted.
#ReleaseCoyoteVsAcme may have just paid off after all.
