Fairly OddParents The Complete Series DVD Boxset Review

Finally! Nickelodeon fans of the early 2000's animated series, The Fairly OddParents created by Butch Hartman (Danny Phantom, Tuff Puppy, Bunsen Is A Beast) is now available on an epic 35 disc complete series boxset.

Amazon failed to fulfill most of the pre orders. They did this without telling me, so frustratingly I had to cancel it after waiting for a previous month and find one on Ebay. If you really want to know how much I paid for it, in total it was $240 AUD. While the price packed a punch, this is certainly the boxset a lot of classic Nickelodeon fans like myself have been waiting for.

A couple of years ago, in Australia, now defunct DVD distributor Beyond Home Entertainment released a boxset of The Fairly Oddparents Seasons 1 - 5. While a lot of fans would claim this as the definitive version of the series, it still wasn't completed. Although the main show jumped the shark several times in the latter seasons, adding characters like Sparky, Poof and Chloe, it's all here in this epic boxset. Even the TV movie Wishology, an almost 3 hour animated film, is included in the DVD set as well.

Unfortunately, the 3 Jimmy & Timmy Power Hour specials are not included. Which is a shame because they are still very hard to find. Some people consider them regular Jimmy Neutron episodes but aren't included in the main Jimmy Neutron boxset either.

Upon opening the boxset, the DVD Discs are stacked. Although it doesn't bother me that much since the package arrangement is very nice. I was expecting the regular "Paramount Grey Discs" that we all know these days, but they actually released these discs in full colour, so now the presentation looks really nice. The stacking is also pretty solid and not cheap. It feels very strong. Only two discs fell out of the casing when I opened the set up but looking at the back didn't seem so badly damaged and it still played on the player. So they seem to just use the old DVD disc prints from 2011 onwards, the only issue is for the price the DVD menus are still pretty bad.

Despite this, all 172 episodes of the show are here in all of its greatness. Including Wishology. But a chance to add the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour specials were missed. However it's still a fun boxset that you will enjoy the nostalgia feels for especially if you were like me and enjoyed growing up in the early 90's and 2000's watching classic Nickelodeon shows like these.

Sadly, looks like Amazon still failed to recuperate a lot of the copies they couldn't stock, and have passed it on to resellers. But if you do manage to come across this boxset at a good price you're in for a treat.

I found out about this DVD boxset from the youtube channel Entertainment Korner. You can see his video about it below, and make sure to subscribe to them too.
